The Beauty and the Beast
BACK TO OVERVIEWThe name says it all: The Ford Ranger Raptor, named after a legendary predatory dinosaur, is a hardcore off-roader of a special kind. While its civilian pick-up brothers are rather found in trade, the Raptor is cut from a different cloth.
The impressive “monster” is the small brother of the off-road rally experienced F-150 Raptor, also featuring a rallying chassis. This one is the evil one, and with the extremely wide arches and the awe-inspiring radiator grille it comes off as the jock among the “real” off-road pickups. 213 diesel hp and 500 Nm torque dig through every terrain, supported by a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
The mighty Ranger’s rowdy character is rounded off aptly by the fetching DOTZ Kalahari off-road rims. Boasting a 1150kg load-bearing capacity, they are a perfect match.
A pick-up – not only for tough jobs
Even if the Ranger Raptor is also going for lifestyle, this one shuns neither slush or snow nor difficult terrain. Relying on adjustable dampers from Fox and with the ground clearance up by 50mm, the suspension effortlessly overcoming gravel pits and stone quarries.
The off-road skills are further enhanced by the 8-spoked design rims that are available optionally in matte black (Kalahari black) or black front-polished (Kalahari dark). They exude a quality which is highly desirable for rough off-road use: robust elegance that can put up with harsh conditions, all the while looking pretty agreeable.
On a daily basis, the Raptor impresses with a sporty cabin featuring robust, premium leather seats, top-quality materials and a versatile suspension that masters comfortable gliding too.
Great duo for extensive off-road fun
After all, the name Kalahari stands for a legendary dream landscape in the world’s largest sandy area that spreads out across seven countries. The DOTZ Kalahari/Ford Ranger Raptor dream duo copes absolutely well with extensive, more or less extreme, off-road tours. The wheel is available in the dimensions 7.0x16″, 8.0x17″, 8.0x18″ and with 5- as well as 6-hole fitments.
Just like all DOTZ rims, the Kalahari comes with free-of-registration fitments. Thanks to its extremely solid make and a load-bearing capacity of 1150kg, the Kalahari is especially suited for Caravanning Utility Vehicle (CUV) modifications.
