Custom centre console
BACK TO OVERVIEWIn this episode, Christian and Dominic meet at our workshop to adjust the centre console to the recently installed flyoff handbrake as well as the gear selector which is placed further ahead.
The duo delineates the shape of the BMW centre console on a large-size cardboard in order to craft a template that is true to the original. To check where adjustments need to be made to the centre console, the template is held up in the interior space. This allows the duo to directly mark the points that require reworking.
After transferring the marked points on the template to the original console, Christian wastes no time to cut out the marked points using an air saw.
The flyoff handbrake recesses are now cut out accurate to a millimetre.
The upper part of the centre console is closed with a custom-made sheet, rendering the ugly holes invisible, and the upholsterer can now also cover the interior space with Alcantara.
Now, the last bits are completed for the upholsterer and ready to be adjusted to the interior space design.
