Interior to the point.
BACK TO OVERVIEWIn our 42nd episode, Christian and Dominic come together at the workshop on the DOTZ premises to finish the interior. Their task includes not only the screwing together of the unruly roll cage, but also the installation of the door panels and a number of other, visually important, parts in the interior.
The duo starts by installing the door panels. Just like many other interior parts, they have been covered with beautiful Alcantara leather while great attention has been paid to detail: The entire locking mechanism as well as all covers and buttons are re-fitted true to original. The recently installed speedometer and buttons for the Haltech instruments display are now moved for visual reasons. Christian has decided to install these control elements outside of the field of vision in the lower area of the dashboard.
The desired blend of uncompromising race car and production vehicle in the interior, calls for the creativity of the two car enthusiasts. The original speaker covers behind the seats are rearranged in such a way that the Takata belts can be stuck through.
In the previous episode, the roll cage was screwed together and mounted to the interior space. Today, it is finally connected to the body.
The last task of this day consists of the fitting of the Bride bucket seats. Everybody is elated, now that the interior finishing is complete. The contrast between roll bar, bucket seats and premium Alcantara, together with the car carpet and many other details make the interior space of our DD2.JZ a true feast for the eyes.
