World premiere at the Essen Motor Show. The wait is over - At the Essen Motor Show DOTZ will present the ultimate project car, the DD2.JZ, better known to some as "The Beast".

Tuning at its finest
DOTZ installed a 2JZ GTE Toyota engine into the venerable hull of the BMW Z4 Coupé. The 3-l twin turbo engine has been way ahead of its time, even in the year dot due to the powertrain’s enormous potential. This extravagant project was triggered by the new release of the BMW Z4 successor and the Toyota Supra, respectively. The DD2.JZ will now debut at the Essen Motor Show.

Get the old one out. Let “The Beast” in.
At the beginning of summer this year, the engine swap in favour of the 2JZ GTE aggregate, including a significant power increase, was successfully completed. The initial test rides proved challenging – 610 hp required some reining in. “Starting the engine for the first time at the ECU Performance test centre was by far one of the most exciting moments, but the first test ride managed to top it all, because it released unbelievable happiness hormones in me,” says Christian Haderer, DD2 project manager at DOTZ. After successfully completing the first tests, everybody involved was visibly relieved. Motor tuning expert Daniel Koltay from CEK said: “This project is definitely out of the ordinary. The challenges were great, but we mastered them successfully. By continuing the ongoing fine-tuning, we will get the maximum out of the machine.”

Beauty knows no pain
After completing the technical phase, the inner values were tackled. For the right workplace seating, in terms of an ergonomic sitting work posture, Bride bucket seats VIOS II were installed on custom-made seat brackets. The Takata 6-point harness in mint green provides a correct and, above all, g-force resisting posture. In an effort to create a real feel-good factor in this extreme work environment, the entire interior trim was replaced with Alcantara. Hand-made and individually adjusted by an upholsterer, the DOTZ project car now offers an extraordinarily exquisite work environment. “During the designing of the interior, all of a sudden, the term Sisyphus work obtained a highly realistic significance for me. It took many hand movements in a highly confined space,” says Christian Haderer. DD2.JZ International - DOTZ Misano Concept Perfect custom shoes
As a rim manufacturer, two things come naturally to DOTZ. Firstly, the perfect design. And secondly, 100 percent technically approved solutions. The combination of both results in an accomplished rim concept. Therefore, especially for the project car DD2.JZ, we went the extra mile to reach an optimal solution. The engine-related and body-technical adaptations, once again, called for Christian Haderer’s core competency: a perfect rim design. Deep dish and an open spokes design formed the framework conditions. The result: The DOTZ Misano Concept, a forged concave three-part wheel with maximum depth which is adjusted to the car in every respect, and furthermore, a maturity-phase tuning rim developed from the DOTZ Misano Concept. Christian Haderer, chief designer at DOTZ explains: “When constructing a concave wheel, the main objective is to achieve maximum depth.” By applying technical finesse, DOTZ has managed to obtain “maximum performance”. Maximum thin spoke pairs, which, in their overall composition, resemble delicate tuning forks, make the new Misano exceptional. The DOTZ Misano standard version will be available as of spring 2019 at well-stocked specialist retailers.

Carbon fibre with the extra touch
Clothes make people, or in other words: designs make cars. The final conversion phase of the DD2.JZ was all about the right attire. To this end, Christian Haderer and Dominic Tiroch came up with something very special. A hand-made carbon wide bodykit by SLEK Design provides “The Beast” with the matching outer appearance. But that’s not all: Because the extra oomph comes from Knud Tiroch, an artist, collector and hotrodder by trade. The air brush expert has been working for years for Formula 1 racing teams as well as celebrities all over the world. Using a highly accomplished painting technique, the DD2.JZ obtained its final and distinctive touch. “Truly unique. To date, there is no comparable design paint,” Knud Tiroch says very matter-of-fact.

The journey can begin
After the completion of the new DOTZ project car “The Beast” will start to travel. The official launch is the world premiere in Essen. After a short winter break, the DD2.JZ will be exhibited on international car and tuning shows in 2019. All fans may find an extensive list of appearances in the project blog at: DOTZ DD2.JZ.

The cinematic high point
In spring 2019, as a travel companion of sorts, DOTZ will present the DD2.JZ drift video project to an international audience in full-blown action and, of course, at the limit of what is physically possible.DD2.JZ - DOTZ Misano Concept A big thanks to our DD2.JZ project partners
Since such a large project cannot be realized in the blink of an eye, DOTZ is happy to introduce some important partners.

A big shout-out to:

CEK – Custom Engineering Koltay is a young, Austrian company focusing on custom-built products such as exhaust systems, performance enhancement and complete tuning packages for regular and motorsports cars. The DOTZ project car supports Daniel Koltay in the “operation on the open heart”, the engine, while being responsible for the final fine tuning

RP-Tools.at, providing DOTZ with the entire workshop equipment. The project can be realised only by using a hydraulic two-ram lift, a workshop car including the complete work tool set, an engine-powered hoisting crane, welding units, sandblasting equipment as well as an extensive range of other small materials.

Low, low – Just so that the wheels can snuggle up tightly against the project car’s wheel wells, the boys from Lowrider.at, the Austrian air suspension specialists, have instantly agreed to support the DOTZ project with an Airride by U.S. premium manufacturer Air Lift Performance, with Lowrider.at not only providing the material but also their know-how for the perfect technical implementation and installation.

K-Sport Germany is dedicated to manufacturing powerful braking systems as well as high-quality coilovers and air suspensions for nearly all car models. On the DD2.JZ drift car, the K-Sport 6-piston sport braking system using forged monoblock braking calipers provides the necessary delay. For “The Beast” to begin the perfect drift at any given time, the boys from K-Sport Germany also provided a hydraulic flyoff handbrake.

Hotrod Hangar/DTR-Spezial – Knud and Dominic Tiroch, artists, collectors and hotrodders by trade, translated the design into airbrushing technology, achieving a unique look in a combination of carbon, high gloss, hologram effect and a go-faster stripe in TAKATA green. As a visual border, a final highlight was placed using red paint. The result unites power, aesthetics, innovation and engineering in harmony.

Spies Hecker, one of the global repair paint brands of Axalta Coating Systems, develops innovative, practice-oriented solutions which facilitate the work in painting businesses and make workflows more efficient. Using high-quality product systems, customer-specific care and targeted training, Spies Hecker has been a strong partner of the painting trade for 135 years. High-tech car repair paints embellish and protect “The Beast”.

Vredestein, the manufacturer of premium tyres in the heart of Europe, knows what the market needs. Innovation has always been a key concept for our exclusive tyre partner. Vredestein supports the DOTZ DD2.JZ project car not only with countless tyres for the video project, but also provides special staggered wheel fitments for the perfect trade show appearance. This guarantees maximum performance at all times which will also reflect nicely on the road.
