In the last forty-eight DD2.JZ episodes we have demonstrated full commitment. We were faced with seemingly unsolvable problems, suffered setbacks which almost made us throw in the towel. And all that in order to prepare our DD2.JZ for its first big appearance: the video shoot for DOTZ Wheels in the breath-taking ghost town of Consonno close to Milan.

Patrick Paparella, one of the best-known automotive photographers, was commissioned to capture our DD2.JZ against this phenomenal backdrop. This is more than just pressing down the camera release, because Patrick knows his craft like no other, perfectly staging the atmosphere of the desolate town and the meticulously built show car.DOTZ DD2.JZ Episode 49: Videodreh in ItalienAfter the elaborate photo shoot, the five-membered film crew starts the video shoot. Two cinema cameras, several action cams as well as a drone were brought to the set to capture spectacular driving scenes. In this video shoot we even commissioned a sound engineer to record the DD2.JZ’s incredible sound.DOTZ DD2.JZ Episode 49 The machine was steered by none other than Dominic Tiroch, who drifts in the narrow corners through the forest towards Consonno in possibly record-breaking speeds. “These are the fastest drifts we’ve driven so far!” Christian cheers after registering 120 km/h on the speedometer of his Supra. His Toyota, once again, serves as a rig car, enabling the film team around Fabian Kluhs to shoot dynamic close-ups.

In order to provide the image movie – set for a spring 2019 release – with a certain story, the ghost town’s atmosphere is conveyed very skilfully. Dominic drifts the DD2 accurate to the millimeter past columns, accelerates like a daredevil in the narrow alleys, and lets the goosebumps-evoking exhaust sound echo through Consonno.DOTZ DD2.JZ Episode 49 - Erster Videodreh in Italien Except a few minor failures, such as a broken drive shaft, a defect breaker, and a couple of tyre sets, our DD2.JZ has passed this tough test with flying colours thanks to on-site mechanic Daniel Koltay.
