Episode 12: Fits. Matches. Wiggles and has air.
BACK TO OVERVIEWIn this episode, we´re moving ahead with big steps. As the well-attuned duo has already done the perfect groundwork, the Toyota aggregate is installed in the BMW body in no time.
This gives the two time to dedicate themselves to the transmission shaft, the gear knob and the flyoff handbrake.
All work on the engine, such as fitting new water pipes and sealing the oil pan, has been completed already. Now, the 2JZ GTE can finally be mounted in the BMW Z4 body together with the gearbox.
As you can see, the idea to do without the turnbuckle for the fan belt and to use only the alternator for tightening, has worked out pretty fine.
The transmission shaft for our DD2.JZ must be made to measure as neither length nor connection points match.
Because the shifter in the interior protrudes too far forwards, without a shadow of a doubt, Christian decides to cut off a part of the dashboard to create more space.
And finally, the two tackle the positioning of the flyoff handbrake. Even here, some of the parts in the BMW’s interior are being made to measure.
