Almost six years of renovation works did Herbert Hamal put into his Toyota Supra. The 1993 JZA80 with his outfit is not only a road samurai, but would also be the big star at every Touge race.

1993 is the year of birth of the last Supra issues. While aficionados are already dreaming of the successor named FT1, the 1993 generation is something like the gene pool of todays Supras. Herbert Hamal has imported one of these from Japan and converted him to the Japanese Club Racer eXperimental (JCRX).

First step: a new appearance. DOTZ teamrider Dominic Tiroch was responsible for the painting, Midnight Club Pearl was used for the gemstone occurrence of the Supra. To round off the exterior Herbert has mounted 19 inch DOTZ Revvo. 8,5x19 235 on Toyo Proxes at the front and 9.5x19 on 275 at the rear form the perfect complement for the Need for Speed-look. For even better contact with the road, the original suspension was replaced by a TEIN Flex Street with adaptive damper control.

The 2JZ-GE 6-cylinder in-line engine delivers 220 hp in its original state. Herbert has upgraded his racer with many details to 300 hp. These include: Green Twister intake, a Walbro 255 fuel pump ...

Intake manifold, cambelt and fan belt, throttle, ignition wires and spark plugs, oil filter and wear parts are only a small section of the rejuvenating cure for the over 20 year old samurai.

In the interior not a padding was left standing. Herbert has renewed all paneling, linings, mats and bowls, the OMP racing steering wheel is mandatory for racing cars like the Supra.

Bride Euroster II seats provide the ideal grip when the Supra flies over the asphalt with 300hp. But Herbert stresses that the speed was not so much the most important goal of the renovation: “The Supra was never intended to be a concrete tearing, Ferrari humiliating horsepower monster in a straight line.“ This Supras new look-motto was: "What if Toyota made something like a 993 Carrera RS or in modern terms a Cayman GT4 out of the JZA80 chassis?"
