One vision. One project. One goal.

Dr. Gerfried Swoboda is not one to tread the common paths of life. His vision? Circumnavigating the world in four years on a Pinzgauer 718T manufactured in 1990. That’s the plan. His goal is very clear, which suits ALCAR mighty well.

For him to master the many kilometres across the world’s various roads and non-roads as well as coarse gravel and sludge, ALCAR WHEELS GmbH has equipped Gerfried Swoboda with the right footwear: The robust DOTZ DAKAR is simply made for this trip, a reliable companion to him and his Pinzgauer 718T on this adventure.

The vehicle: Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer

The Pinzgauer was developed at Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz and built between 1971 and 2000. It is considered one of the best all-terrain vehicles in the world. A central tube chassis with portal axles, providing sensational terrain properties, stand out as special technical features. The Pinzgauer was available in various versions as 4x4 and 6x6, as a closed box wagon or with a tarpaulin cover while its construction allowed for a number of special bodyworks for military and civilian use. After roughly 30,000 units, production in Graz-Thondorf stopped in 2000. During its active manufacturing period, the vehicle had already reached cult status.
