First test run for DD2.JZ
BACK TO OVERVIEWAfter the Wisefab kit was installed in the last episode, our DD2.JZ is put to the acid test today for the first time, after some finishing touches, on the racetrack in Greinbach close to Hartberg.
Once the troubleshooting in the defective brake booster is over, an oil change is carried out. The 10W40, which was filled in for the first engine run, is not ideal for the installed 2JZ engine given the tough racetrack operations. Now, the engine is filled with premium 10W60.
Since the Wisefab kit changed the entire driving geometry, Daniel and Christian are examining the smooth running of the front wheels. 5-mm tracking plates and 19″ rims all around are needed so as not to touch any body structure or axle parts in full lock. The air pipes that had been in the way, have already been adapted by Christian. The final work step prior to the ride to Greinbach is to adjust the toe setting. Daniel explains the differences compared to daily use.
Upon arrival in Greinbach, the duo wastes no time and prepares the DD2.JZ for the upcoming rounds on the race track immediately after unloading it.
After a short time, the DD2.JZ coasts on the race track. Christian and Daniel must push the car into the pit lane.
The suspicion is confirmed that the drive shaft tore. Both sides couldn’t withstand the enormous power. In order to avoid such a defect in the next test ride, Daniel and Christian decide to fit slightly narrower tyres on the rear axle as well as install factory-fresh drive shafts instead of used ones.
