It all started with an ominous break-in. The target: the newly reconstructed DOTZ DD1 BMW E92. The story involving an outburst of passion was realized with a perfect choreography and many small and big helpers.
Hundreds of metres of cable were laid for the spectacular video, 250 lamps installed and 70 kW of power were required to capture the spectacle on film.
So as not to lose a single second to oblivion, four cameras – including a Red Dragon pursuit drone, a camera drone and a rig – followed the wild ride across the DOTZ company premises.
Right from the start of the year, we made sure to keep the tuning community happy by providing the proper tool for those who planned on giving their car a more racy and aggressive look: the SP5 dark. With the new entry in the rim range, DOTZ proved that aggressiveness and premium design need not contradict each other when it comes to wheels. The rim with the three-dimensional feel bears testimony to its owner’s belligerent streak.
It’s customary that every May DOTZ makes its way to the Austrian province of Carinthia to celebrate the VW Golf, which was, of course, the star at the booth of the GTI convention at Lake Wörth. In concrete terms: a Golf VII Clubsport on Dotz SP5 dark 8.5x20. The Wolfsburg legend, equipped with a chassis by Gepfeffert and wings by SRS Tec, achieves 265 hp, in overboost mode, for a short time, even 290 hp. 
As regards virtual tuning, DOTZ has opened a new chapter in 2017 as well, with the dream car being just a few clicks away in the ALCAR Playground. As compared to the DOTZ configurator, which shows TÜV-certified wheels, the Playground knows no limitations whatsoever.
In an attempt to keep up with true tuning, DOTZ has come up with the SP5 Black Edition. The exceptional design of the three-dimensional rim catches the eye especially due to an extreme curvature radius.
With “That’s my ride”, we then asked the community about their preferences in order to characterise them better as car drivers. 
We also characterised DOTZ Girl Maria to some extent. Early into the new year, the 23-year-old student from the Dominican Republic had a date with the then newly designed BMW DD1.
Maria then also took off to Lake Constance where the Tuning World achieved a new visitor record. In 2017, apart from a complete refurbishment, the DOTZ booth also became the first eyecatcher for exhibition visitors, with DOTZ presenting its new rims directly in the foyer. 
In addition to the GTI convention and the Tuning World, in 2017, DOTZ also looked around at a number of other tuning events. Here’s a selection: Kulturschock in Newcastle, Raceism in Wroclaw, the pre- and post conventions at Lake Wörther, the Seaside Stance in Rijeka and of course the classics: the SEMA in Las Vegas and the Motor Show in Essen.
Just in time for the ice and snow season, we then opened a laboratory. At www.sr3-saltlab.com alloy rims are tested for winter use under the harshest conditions.. 
Santa Clause is, of course, winterproof, too. In 2017, he opted for a new sleigh for delivering his gifts. Instead of reindeers, the DOTZ Santa Claus rode through the Advent season on a bunch of horses, drifting across the slopes with the BMW DD1 E92 on red, custom-built SP5 in 20-inch. 
The construction of the “Next Generation DOTZ Supercar”, which was documented throughout the entire year, is reaching the finish line. On our website, we continue to show the latest developments in the DD2 JZ reconstruction. 
In due time for the end of the year, and as a kick-start into the year 2018, DOTZ has incorporated a new rim in its range. The CP5 is a classic five-spoke wheel in graphite matte with an asymmetric twist and a concave construction. At the same time, the dark side of the power has emerged: the SP5 dark in the colour variation black/front-polished.
