The end of the season has arrived for summer tyres. They must now be replaced with winter tyres.
The difference lies not only in the tread
Winter tyres consist of a softer rubber mix than summer tyres which makes them more suitable for icy temperatures. The deeper tread gives winter tyres improved grip, ensuring better acceleration on snow and ice-covered roads. Additional siping in the rubber also has an impact on the brake path, making sure that your car will come to a standstill faster. However, a tyre is considered a winter tyre only if it bears the symbol “M+S”, “M.S.” or “M&S”, displays an additional snow flake symbol or only a snow flake symbol. All-season tyres may therefore be used as winter tyres only if they display such a symbol. Such good arguments speak for winter tyres and, above all, increase road safety. They are also the reason why in some countries winter tyres are mandatory where you will be fined if you fail to fit your winter tyres before November 1. That’s why, we advise you to make an appoint for a tyre change before the first snow flakes hit the road.
