DOTZ Team Rider Stefan Mayer
From dashing through forests to making tracks

Barely out of the nursery, his foot was already on the gas pedal. Stefan Mayer discovered early on that a car is more than just a means of transport. At the age of eleven he was driving his own car, instead of a cycle, cruising around with a lot more horsepower on nearby forest and meadow paths.

The young heart was enthralled, and so he made his early love his profession and took up an automotive technician apprenticeship at Mazda and Honda.

His mechanical talent was soon discovered, and so he started to work with motorsport teams such as ÖRM and ARC. But tinkering alone didn’t cut it for him. That’s why he got started with his Mazda 323 BF turbo and secured himself a podium finish at one or the other mountain or slalom race.

As a snowboarding enthusiast he had always had a warm spot for icy slopes. Hence, a job offer as a mechanic at an ice race suited him just fine. Once he got behind the wheel himself, he was gripped by drift fever. A couple of BMWs and winters later it was time for a new project – a Mazda RXV-8.

Three years later, it became a masterpiece which can be admired not only at exhibitions as a DOTZ Wheels exhibit, but also takes away the breath of viewers at one or the other drift.
